Choose Your Champion
Hint: It’s You.
Every team has characters.
The person who sees the problem before anyone else does.
The one who makes sense of chaos.
The one people call when something breaks.
The one who asks the question nobody else thought to ask.
The one who keeps everyone moving.
The one who notices what everyone else missed.
But those strengths are not always obvious.
Sometimes the very thing that makes someone valuable is also the thing most likely to be misunderstood.
What if everyone on your team had a character identity?
Choose Your Champion is a three-hour creative team-development experience for existing teams and working groups of 6–8 people.
Not a personality profile.
Not a performance evaluation.
Not another assessment telling everyone which color, animal, acronym, or geometric shape they apparently are.
A card they create themselves.
Your Team. Your Characters. Your Story.
Each participant begins with a lightly pre-sketched character-card canvas and transforms it into their own Champion.
Characters can be realistic, symbolic, ridiculous, heroic, strange, or somewhere in between.
Armor is allowed.
So are wings.
And battle axes.
And coffee. So much coffee.
Accuracy isn’t the point. Meaning is.
As participants create, they explore:
Core Strength: What do I reliably bring to this team?
Hidden Ability: What can I do that people may not immediately notice?
Power-Up: What conditions help me do my best work?
Kryptonite: What drains, distracts, overwhelms, or slows me down?
Special Move: When should the team call on me?
Inner Voice: What belief, value, or idea tends to guide me?
And perhaps most importantly:
Often Mistaken For... / Actually...
Because hesitation may be careful processing.
Stubbornness may be a need to understand why.
Distraction may be someone noticing connections others haven't seen yet.
Then We Put the Team Together
Once the individual Champions are created, we look at the team they form.
What capabilities do we have in abundance?
What do we rely on particular people to provide?
What helps each of us do our best work?
Where do our needs differ?
What strengths have we overlooked?
And what changes when we stop expecting every character to play the same way?
The result is a playful, creative way to explore strengths, working styles, communication, difference, neurodiversity, belonging, and contribution without making the conversation feel like another HR exercise.
There is no personality test.
There is no required personal disclosure.
There is no forced vulnerability.
Participants decide what belongs on their cards and what they choose to share.
The Experience
Your private three-hour session includes pre-sketched Champion canvases for every participant, Sharpies, watercolor and other creative materials, guided character-development prompts, individual creative time with facilitation and support, and a facilitated team conversation and reflection.
Everyone leaves with their completed Champion artwork.
No artistic experience is required.
Being “good at art” has remarkably little to do with any of this.
