Sometimes you want to get people together and do something besides sit around a table wondering what everybody wants to do next.
The Studio Above the Clouds offers private creative experiences for groups who want to spend a few hours making something, trying something new, laughing, talking, and leaving with something considerably more interesting than another group selfie.
You do not need art experience.
You do not need a particularly artistic group.
And nobody needs to already know what they're doing.
That is what the studio is for.
What Kind of Gathering?
Bachelorette & Besties
Yes. Absolutely.
Bring the bride. Bring your friends. Come spend part of your mountain weekend making something together.
This can be pottery, painting, ceramic decorating, mixed media, or another creative project we plan around your group.
Bring snacks. Put on music. Spread out around the table.
Make matching things.
Make completely unrelated things.
There are no rules requiring six adults to suddenly develop the same artistic taste because somebody is getting married.

Not every birthday needs another restaurant reservation.

Teams & Retreats
The studio can also host small teams, educators, leaders, creative groups, and retreat participants who want a different kind of shared experience.
This does not have to be “team building.”
Sometimes people simply need to get away from the conference table, work with their hands, solve different kinds of problems, and spend some time together.
And sometimes we can deliberately build an experience around communication, creativity, adaptability, storytelling, or thinking on your feet.
What Can We Make?
Depending on the group, schedule, and experience you want, private gatherings may include handbuilt pottery, ceramic decorating, painting, mixed media, or another creative project developed for the occasion.
Experiences typically run between two and four hours, depending on what you want to make and how much time you want to spend together.
Some projects can be completed entirely during your visit.
For projects made from raw clay, finished work will remain at the studio for drying and kiln firing. Pickup will be arranged once pieces are complete. Shipping may also be available for visiting groups and is charged separately.
You do not have to choose before contacting me.
In fact, “Six of us are staying nearby for a bachelorette weekend and we want to make something weird” is a perfectly adequate starting point. Possibly an excellent one.
How Big Can the Group Be?
Most private gatherings are designed for groups of up to 10, with many experiences working especially well for 4–8 people.
Hands-on clay-building experiences are often best with smaller groups, while painting, ceramic decorating, mixed media, and other projects may work well with larger ones.
And 10 is not necessarily a hard limit.
If you have a larger group, get in touch. Depending on the project, age mix, and how we arrange the studio, we may be able to make it work.
The goal is to keep the experience feeling like a gathering around a studio table rather than an event where half the room is waiting for help.
What Does It Cost?
Private gatherings are priced by experience rather than individual seat.
Most packages include up to six participants, with additional guests added at a per-person rate.
Experiences typically range from two to four hours and begin around $350, depending on the project, materials, length of the gathering, and group size.
More involved pottery experiences, projects requiring kiln firing, or longer studio sessions may be priced higher.
